The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek is one of the most iconic Himalayan journeys in Nepal, combining rich cultural experiences, lush forests, and stunning mountain views. This moderate trek leads you into the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary, surrounded by towering peaks like Annapurna I (8,091m), Machhapuchhre (6,993m), and Hiunchuli (6,441m). Ideal for trekkers looking for a shorter Himalayan adventure without high-altitude extremes.

Expect to be surrounded by soaring peaks every day. As you ascend toward Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m), you’ll walk beneath the towering presence of Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Hiunchuli, and Annapurna South — all up close and dramatic.
This trek is suitable for fit trekkers, even without prior high-altitude experience. The trail includes stone steps, forest paths, and steep climbs, especially near Chhomrong and Deurali. While it’s not technically difficult, the elevation gain requires steady pacing and stamina.
From lush rhododendron and bamboo forests to alpine meadows and glacial valleys, the terrain changes dramatically as you ascend. Keep your camera ready — each day offers new and breathtaking scenery.
Along the way, you’ll pass through charming villages like Chhomrong and Jhinu Danda, inhabited by the friendly Gurung people. Experience their warm hospitality, traditional stone houses, and glimpse into rural Himalayan life.
Sleep in cozy mountain lodges known as teahouses, offering twin-share rooms with basic comforts. Most serve hearty Nepali and international meals, hot drinks, and warm blankets — a perfect way to end a trekking day.
After days on the trail, enjoy a soothing soak in the natural hot springs of Jhinu Danda, nestled beside the river. It’s the perfect reward for tired legs and a favorite moment for many trekkers.
Weather in the Himalayas can shift quickly. Expect sunny days, cool mornings, and cold nights — especially at higher altitudes. Rain or snow is possible, depending on the season. Always be prepared with proper gear.
Reaching Annapurna Base Camp, standing in the middle of a high-mountain amphitheater, is an emotional and unforgettable experience. It’s not just a trek — it’s a personal achievement surrounded by natural grandeur.

The trek is considered moderate. You don’t need mountaineering experience, but you should be in good physical condition. The trail includes long walking days, stone steps, and altitude up to 4,130m, so preparation and pacing are important.
The best seasons are:
Spring (March–May) – Clear skies, blooming rhododendrons
Autumn (September–November) – Crisp air, great mountain visibility
Winter is also possible (December–February), but it’s colder and snow may block higher trails.
Yes, altitude sickness can affect anyone above 2,500m. We ascend gradually, monitor symptoms, and encourage hydration and rest. ABC trek is relatively safe if you follow your guide’s advice and don’t rush.
You’ll stay in locally-run teahouses – simple lodges with twin rooms and shared bathrooms. They offer basic bedding, warm meals, and a cozy atmosphere.Â
While it’s possible to trek independently, we highly recommend hiring a licensed guide for safety, navigation, and cultural insights. Porters make the journey easier by carrying your main bag, allowing you to enjoy the trek more comfortably.
