Itinerary

Day 1Kathmandu – Zhangmu – Nyalam

Drive from Kathmandu to the Nepal-Tibet border at Zhangmu (~6–7 hrs).

Complete border formalities and enter Tibet.

Scenic drive through Nyalam, a high-altitude Tibetan town.

Overnight in Nyalam .

Day 2Nyalam – Shigatse (3,860m)

  • Drive along the Friendship Highway (~6–7 hrs).
  • Stop at Sakya Monastery if time allows.
  • Overnight in Shigatse.
  • Accommodation: Shigatse hotel

Day 3Shigatse – Rongbuk – Everest Base Camp (~5,200m)

  • Early morning drive to Rongbuk Monastery (~7–8 hrs).
  • Marvel at Mount Everest North Face views.
  • Continue to Everest Base Camp for photos and exploration.
  • Overnight at Rongbuk guesthouse.

Highlights: Everest sunrise (optional early morning photography), Himalayan vistas

Day 4Everest Base Camp – Tingri (4,350m)

  • Optional early morning sunrise photography at Everest.
  • Drive back to Tingri (~4–5 hrs) for rest and acclimatization.
  • Overnight in Tingri guesthouse.

Day 5Tingri – Shigatse (~6–7 hrs)

  • Drive back toward Shigatse.
  • Stop at scenic viewpoints along the Friendship Highway.
  • Overnight in Shigatse.

Day 6Shigatse – Gyantse (4,050m, ~3 hrs)

  • Drive to Gyantse.
  • Visit Kumbum Stupa and explore Gyantse town.
  • Overnight in Gyantse hotel.

Day 7Gyantse – Lhasa (3,650m, ~5–6 hrs)

  • Drive to Lhasa.
  • Stop at Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet’s most beautiful high-altitude lakes.
  • Evening arrival in Lhasa, rest.

Day 8Lhasa – Acclimatization & Short Sightseeing

  • Rest and acclimatize.
  • Optional visit: Barkhor Street, local markets, or small monasteries.

  • Morning visit to Potala Palace.
